About us

The RepairMonitor is an online tool that allows Repair Cafés to easily monitor the products they receive, what's wrong with them, and what has been done – successfully or unsuccessfully – to repair them. The data we collect this way provides insight into the durability and repairability of the items in our daily lives. We use this data to inform manufacturers, politicians, and consumers. This should lead to better products that fit into the circular economy.

The RepairMonitor is specifically intended for collecting and sharing repair data. The tool is not a complete replacement for the visitor records maintained by local Repair Cafés. Repair Cafés that wish to record email addresses, postal codes, ages, or other information about their visitors must do so separately.

RepairMonitor.org is a website of the Repair Café International Foundation. This foundation, based in Amsterdam, aims to bring modern repair back into local communities. To this end, it helps groups of volunteers worldwide establish their own Repair Cafés: monthly or weekly repair meetings for and by neighbors.
